Murthy Oration was started in the year 1988 to pay regards to Prof. R.K. Murthy who was an Orthopaedically trained Orthopaedic Surgeon in the era when Gen surgeons used to practice Orthopaedics. He was the first to obtain M.S in Ortho in M.P. He has shown light to everybody who has an interest in Orthopaedics. He was born in the year 1918 and had his medical career in King Edward Medical School, Indore. He started taking keen interest in Orthopaedics since 1950 while working as Asst. Surgeon in MGM Medical College Indore. In 1961, he became lecturer in Orthopaedics Et in 1965, Reader in Orthopaedics. He had forgone promotion As prof in Surgery only to see that Orthopaedic gets a tooting. Such was his devotion. He was the first in M.P to organize National Conference in Indore in 1968 for which he worked hard single handedly. It was a great success.
